hair stylesIt could be my imagination but it seems to me that there is nothing very new about contemporary hair styles. From what I have seen it looks like today’s hairstyles are slightly different versions of what was trendy in the sixties  when my parents were in their late teens. I actually laugh because my niece, Alice, who is almost sixteen, thinks that her hair styles are really cutting edge. I have looked at pictures of my mother with similar hair styles which were taken forty years ago. I think that hair styles go in and out of fashion with a few minor alterations here and there. There are probably exceptions to the rule, though. I think some hair styles were a huge mistake the first time around. For instance the mullet hair style that was fashionable in the 1980s is one that I do not think will become popular again, at least not in my lifetime. There may come a time in the future when the memory of it has been forgotten and someone decides to try it again.
